The North West Vocational Dance Centre offers ISTD approved vocational dance training in the Ballet, Tap, Modern and National dance disciplines, for adults and young adults hoping to pursue a career as a professional dancer or teacher of dance.

The centre is run by Heather Burns a fully qualified and registered teacher, who was trained at Northern Ballet School in Manchester and has enjoyed a distinguished career teaching students of vocational dance – latterly as Head of Dance at Preston College – before establishing the North West Vocational Dance Centre. She also runs Lancashire Ballet and Theatre School.

All North West Vocational Dance Centre tutors are highly qualified, fully registered and accredited and have been carefully selected for their considerable experience in their field.

Heather established the North West Vocational Dance Centre because she believes passionately the the highest standard in career dance training can be provided to students of all backgrounds in a way that is responsive to their individual circumstances and educational or professional background.

Our aim is to be recognised as one of the best ‘train-to-teach’ dance academies in North West England – and, of course, to provide an enjoyable and positive learning experience for every single student we accept onto our courses!
